Jael Silliman, born into the Baghdadi Jewish community of Calcutta, was educated at Wellesley College, Mass., Harvard University, University of Texas, Austin, and received her doctoral degree in international education at Columbia University. She has written extensively on gender and economic toon meer development, and women's movements in the developing world. Her recent publications include The Teak Almirah and Where Gods Reside: Sacred Places of Kolkata. toon minder

Undivided Rights details many reproductive justice organizations focused on African American, Latina, Asian / Pacific Island and Native American women. While the case-study format doesn't exactly make for a captivating read, the book is very interesting in bringing up the unique needs of women of color in the reproductive health movement. The middle-upper class white model of legal and safe abortion just doesn't cut it for women who face involuntary sterilization, lack of reproductive health education and services, unethical testing and use of long-acting birth control among other challenges.… (meer)

great feminist resource on the history of reproductive rights struggles of women of colour. this should be required reading for all white feminists!
