I finally got the technical problems straightened out and intend to make this my next read. This is a place-saver review so I don't get dinged for reporting the book "received" but not yet read in the Early Reader program.
Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten.This book was my bedtime read and it took me a while to get through it—the first half or so felt more compelling than the rest. Perhaps it was that Cahena's early life held so much promise of achieving something great that getting bogged down into administration, wars with Romans and wars with Muslims blunted the brilliance. I also thought this book could have been better for sticking into a tighter point-of-view character structure. But that said, it was interesting to read about a period I haven't read much about and about a fascinating woman growing to lead her tribe.… (meer)
