A decent enough book listing 100 significant "lasts" in history (to be specific, 19th Century British history). Starting with the last Irish parliament, which ended on 1 January 1801, through the last time the ducking stool was used as a punishment, the last Thames Frost Fair, the last outbreak of the Luddite movement, the last legal cockfight and through to the end of the Victorian era.

There were some entries that were new to me and I found fascinating while others ranged in interest and obscurity. Overall, while I enjoyed reading this, I couldn't shake the feeling that it could have been better. Still, it's worth a read if you ever come across it.… (meer)
