I received a copy for an honest review. I really did want to like this book as it seemed like Catie's "life" and lies would be exposed. However, it just seemed like she was very selfish and didn't take accountability nor really respect anyone around her. I couldn't understand how someone could fall in love with a pathological liar. I didn't like the story.

I am trying to figure out why I did not enjoy this book, since so many reviewers raved about it. Perhaps I enjoy realistic romantic comedy/mystery rather than just comedy/mystery. As in the first book in the series, the author has set up a rather improbable scenario in this book. This time, Catie’s sister, Natalie, a chef planning to open a restaurant, discovers that the money she has saved and gotten from an investor for her restaurant has disappeared. The only other person with access to the money is her partner and investor, Luke. Natalie, with the help of traveling journalist, and secret crush, Max Euston, goes on a somewhat elaborate search for Luke, that takes her through the jungles of Costa Rica, trying to get back the money before it’s too late. The story moved along quickly, but really did not have much realism or credibility, in my opinion. For example, fresh out of funds and with little care about where the money will come from to pay for everything, Natalie up and decides to fly to her mother’s villa after her mother tells her she is fairly sure she has seen Luke in a restaurant ion the island where she lives. Unfortunately, Luke and a new girlfriend have already moved on. Natalie and Max, who decides to come with her, then figure out where Luke and his new girlfriend have gone and end up in the jungles of Costa Rica looking for him and the money.

The story is okay, just not very realistic. I guess the author wants to provide a chick lit romance cum mystery to tickle the fancy of her fans. I found the story interesting as a way to pass the time, but there were too many improbable events, decisions and actions that occurred for me to be impressed or to love this book. I had the feeling, as I read, that, as well as with the other book in the series, the author was trying pull off something similar to the Stephanie Plum series, but, in my opinion, did not even come close. It was nice to watch Natalie confront her past and realize her mistakes, but, at times, I just wanted to stop and shake her, trying to keep her from being as stupid or naïve and make similar mistakes a second or third time. Max, as usual, was the steady, strong person in her life, trying to keep Natalie from making too many serious mistakes. Again, there is an on-again-off-again relationship between Natalie and Max, as I there was between Catie and her “acting husband” in the first book. It makes me wonder if these two girls will ever grow up, act even a little bit mature or even learn from their mistakes. They both seem to come across as flaky, stuck in adolescence and not very wise in the ways of the world, though Catie has a very popular blog and important job and Natalie has already failed once to get a restaurant off the ground and is a successful chef. I guess this book will to a reader looking for something to pass the time, that requires little or no thought, wants an escape and is into chick lit for chick lit’s sake. I received this from Library Thing to read and review.

Catie Bloom writes a blog. She is happily married. She has a flair for decorating. She is a superb cook. Catie Bloom is a lot of things—only she really is not. Catie Bloom has created a fantasy life for herself. In addition to the blog, Catie works for a chick magazine. Her “chickens come home to roost” when her boss decides to provide a wonderful home coming for her injured nephew: dinner, a gorgeous house, a loving couple to greet him, etc. She expects Catie to provide all this. With a little bit of work and help from others, Catie manages to get a great house, convince a friend and fellow worker to pose as her husband, and also convinces her chef sister to provide the meals Catie is supposed to prepare for the coming home celebration. Still, as the homecoming evolves, things do not turn out quite as Catie envisions, and we follow her through the twist and turns of this story.

This was an interesting story. However, like other reviewers, I did not really like the main character, Catie. I found her rather self-centered and quite ready and able to “use” others for her own purposes. I did not quite understand how her “husband” Sam, a love-and-leave-’em kind of guy, suddenly was “in love” with her—out of the blue, or how he just happened to be posing as her husband. Catie also did not know how to “play” her role very well during the coming home celebration, doing things that definitely were “out of character”. The idea behind the story was, in my opinion, rather far-fetched. I also had difficulty liking or accepting the other characters, who let themselves become pawns in Catie’s life game. I prefer to think of them as enablers. It is just too hard for me to believe that someone could succeed and fool others in such a web of lies. I received this from the author to read and review.

I got this book about two months ago and was not able to read it right away. I apologize Miss Brooke Stanton profusely. I really am sorry for not reading this book sooner.

The Misadventures of Catie Bloom is a hilarious disaster story. It could easily become a hit rom-com in the big screen.

Catie Bloom is a popular lifestyle guru. Her fame started with just a blog and was later featured in a magazine. From there, Catie's life and career took off to heights she never even dreamed. From broke to writing for a hit magazine column and a segment in Wake up America. These are what dreams are made off until she was asked to do an interview which could just be the fuse to her ruin.

I signed up for a copy of this book in Library Thing and never gotten to read it right away. Now, I am scolding myself why. I was reminded again that I had this book when I read about the coming release of The Adventures of Natalie Bloom, so I decided I should find time to read this book. And I am glad I finally did. This book was like a balm to any sore or ache. This will absolutely make you forget all your discomfort. It was so hilarious and insane. I don't know if I like Catie or I want to hit her in the head. But I am impressed by how she had made it big and popular with all the lies that she filed one after the other.

Natalie Bloom, I would say, is one martyr sister. I totally understand all the sacrifices and help she gave Catie but she has to put some boundaries. Good thing, she finally realized that. Though, it had to take a lot of mishaps before she screamed enough is enough.

I definitely agree with the title. This is absolutely the capital MISADVENTURES of Catie Bloom. It was amusing watching all the characters squirm and cope with all the stress and blunders Catie has caused. At the same time, I feel for all of them. It seemed like they were powerless to stop anything at all. I totally enjoyed this book and can't wait for The Adventures of Natalie Bloom. And guess what, I already have a copy so I will be off to join her in her adventures or could it be misadventures just like Catie? I really hope so. Sounds like fun!

I give the book 4/5 pans of burned cake. I think every girl who has lied to save a job or to get out of a bind can relate to Catie Bloom. Every girl has been a Catie or a Natalie at least once in her life. I also have an older sister and we are very close. Just like Natalie, I would do anything for her, a thousand times over. And this book just reminds of that deep sisterly love that you would do anything to save or help your sister, even if it is giving up or postponing something you really want to do. This book is about trying hard to fake it till you make it and even acing it. This is about fighting for your dreams.

...but those little lies, one on top of another, had fallen hard on my small shoulders, making the consequences far worse than they would have been had I first confessed.
