This is a great resource for learning everything there is to know: from how to write a grant, grant etiquette, the different kinds of grants, corporations that provide grants, etc. The book has a great index to take you directly to the specific information that you need. It also comes with a DVD. You will have the edge above others who aren't aware of all that is available in grant money available to them.

If You Only Read One Book on Grant Writing, This Is the One to Read!

ByJoy L. Jurrieson March 6, 2017
Format: Paperback

As a newcomer in the field of grant writing, I have been reading every book on the subject I can get my hands on. This new book by Waddy Thompson offers far more useful information than any other that I've read. I don't recall any book I've read in the last few years that has generated more ideas in my head and notes on my legal pad than this one.

Chock full of helpful resources, links, and sample proposals, this book is more than just a primer on grant writing. Not only does it contain grant writing basics for newbies such as myself, it ventures into areas I have not seen addressed in other books, such as sponsorships and freelancing. This could easily be another dry book on the subject, but Mr. Thompson's conversational writing style makes this book a very fun read.

The day I ordered this book, I had attended a three hour seminar on beginning grant writing at a local university. If I had read this book beforehand, I could have saved $60 tuition. Truthfully, I have learned so much more from this book than I have from any other source.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own.

This was Bettie Beene Nixon's high school American history text. On the back cover is written "Tennessee edition." She has written in herself "Elizabeth Beene Lodge Tenn. Tenn, RVMT BVS. Why keep a book like this ? Because most of it is generally accurate, and unlike the current oversized American history books it is short, to the point, and has some really interesting small line drawings. There is Caterpillar Tank, map ot the Battle Fronts for World War, oddly enough a chapter on "American Women", including a paragraph on the woman's movement, short biography of "Eliza Lucas" who managed 3 plantations and successfully raised silk and information on Stanton and Anthony in helping secure the right to vote. Is it generally known that in 1872 Anthony was arrested and fined $100.00 for illegally voting ?The section concludes with the 1920 amendment securing women the right to vote. When the owner of this book, born in 1916 was born she could not have voted in national elections.

One particularly interesting line drawing is labeled "An overland train on its way to the far west."

And there is prejudice, not unlike today's prejudice against certain immigrants:

""Since the War of Secession most of the immigrants have been from the lower classes of eastern and southeastern Europe" p. 294

There is a list of books that supposedly Lincoln read, but virtually NOTHING about slaves and blacks. And was it true that Lincoln could outspell anyone in his country ?

Yes, this is a keeper.
