Gary Topping is a historian and archivist now retired from Salt Lake Community College and the archives of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City. He grew up on the southern Oregon coast and moved to Utah in 1972 to pursue a PhD in history at the University of Utah. His first professional toon meer position was Curator of Manuscripts at the Utah State Historical Society. His other books include Glen Canyon and the San Juan Country, Utah Historians and the Reconstruction of Western History, and Leonard J. Arrington: A Historian's Life. He lives in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, with his wife, Marianna Hopkins. toon minder

Salt Lake City:: 1890-1930 (Images of America) door Gary Topping

I loved reading and viewing the information and pictures about my home city. I recognized several of the buildings. I work at the City and County Building, which was featured in several of the pictures and descriptions. It was a very informative and evocative book for me and I reflected upon my family that has grown up in the city city, and their experiences - my knowledge and understanding of them was enhanced because of this book.

This well-researched volume looks at each subject's life and their writings and does not gloss over any limitations and failings.
