Enlightening for the modern Priestess, this book also includes a few practical rituals and spells of Goddess blessings, and for enhancing one's inner and outer beauty.

Kala Trobe has the most amazing vocabulary. She constantly sends me running for the dictionary, sometimes several times on a single page! I am a strange person and kind of like this, though it does tend to separate the reader from the story and makes it hard to get sucked into the drama. This novel is her darkest yet, which is my problem with it. I am a "love & light" kind of girl, and it was hard to read about the ritual murders and sick people in this story. There is also such a lot of drug use I felt high just from reading about it. The author is incredibly intelligent and so knowledgeable about magick and has such a poetic control of her prose, there was still lots to enjoy. I know Kala was living in Amsterdam when she wrote this one, and she does a great job of describing that city and bringing it to life. But this is probably not a great book to read just before going to sleep, unless you hope for some very spooky nightmares.… (meer)

A very interesting book with an emphasis on the many different aspects of the Goddess as expressed in the many different deities within the Hindu, Egyptian and Greek pantheons. The book targets the use of Goddess-energy for therapeutic purposes,a dn the issue of the so-called Shadow side is not ignored. The book provides many clues ,e.g., for the creation of guided visualizations towards a specific goddess, or how to approach a specific goddess for a magickal goal.
The book approachs this material very methodologically: first an inspirational poetic introduction about the deity under consideration, then a discussion of her qualities, one or more visulaization techniques or rituals and finally a discussion of the divine archetype in relation to the people we meet.

The book is well-written and an easy read. The descritions are beautiful and very inspirational. One point of criticism concerns the introduction, in which the author briefly describes several techniques, never to return to them for a more thorough description. It is mildly confusing when she subsequently refers to these techniques. Another minus is the lack of illustrations: just a black-and-white sketch at the beginning of each chapter.
This book seems to be mainly written with women in mind, however, men can also benefit from this inspiring text.
