The Cunning House door Richard Marggraf Turley
This book really got under my skin. I particularly liked to the slang and grimy descriptions, which created immersive scenes of Regency London, and its criminal and sexual subcultures. Not 100% sure how likely (or necessary) some of the more graphic scenes were, but the way the author explores homophobia in the period was definitely a revelation. A complex, convoluted and unusual novel.
