Peter Unger is a Professor of Philosophy at New York University. He is the author of five previous self-standing books, all currently available from the Oxford University Press: All the Power in the World; Living High and Letting Die: Our Illusion of Innocence; Identity, Consciousness and Value; toon meer Philosophical Relativity; and Ignorance: A Case for Scepticism. Oxford has also published his Philosophical Papers, a two-volume collection of shorter works previously published elsewhere. toon minder

Ungor argues through a large number of thought experiments (or intuition pumps), in a manner that should be convince people with a variety of ethical theories, that we ought to be giving almost all our money to charity. This book is much more accessible and much more action orientated than the average book in philosophy and I think that's too its credit. The book is a polemic in the manner of the authors other works in philosophy.

This is book on ethics that I would be most inclined to lend to a friend.… (meer)
