Apparently I read this book once before in 2016 though I did not remember it at all while reading and only realized it because it showed up on another online bookshelf (but not this one). What struck me the first time through was all the running Tamara did.

What struck me more this time was how so many of the characters turned to everything and anything but God. Joe had tried alcohol (and is now recovering but backslides). Tamara runs away, smokes, and drinks. She goes out with Kyle, who drugs her in order to have sex with her, and finds herself pregnant with no way to get in touch with Kyle.

The Christian part of this book doesn't come in until later in the story, unless you count the "99"s. I'm a bit leery of looking for signs like that. God isn't the only one who could put signs like that in our path. It's easy to be led astray if all you believe in is signs. But yes, God can use something like that to direct our steps too--so it's a fine line.… (meer)
