4.5 stars
Half way through this book I was thinking I would be rating this one with three stars…obviously, that changed! (Now you need to find out why by reading it!)

As far as the contents of the story and the merits of it…well, reviewing that would spoil it for most people and since I enjoyed the book as much as I did, I will not be commenting on the story much at all. I feel like Walker did a phenomenal job of researching narcissistic personality disorder and effectively weaving it into the story-line in a way that was completely understandable to the laymen.

My first impression of the writing was not a good one. But, upon further consideration I now believe that it is perhaps a very skilled way of writing. You get a very distinct feel for both Cass and Abby through their chapters. Where Cass’ feel disjointed and poorly thought out, Abby’s chapters feel and come across like the expert mental evaluator that she is in the story.

The only reason I dinged it a star was because of how the build up to the climax of the story felt; meh. In the beginning, it didn’t completely capture my attention, but by the end I was trying to read it as fast as I could to find out what happened. All in all, a great read!

I am so behind on reviewing books for Netgalley and amazing authors like Wendy Walker that it’s sad. I finished this in one day and look forward to reading more from Ms. Walker. Here is a bit about the story. Laura and her sister, Rosie, along with Joe and Gabe, all grew up in the same neighborhood, tight friends from early childhood. Rosie and Joe are now married with a toddler, and Gabe has married. After her most recent relationship ends badly, Laura moves into her sister's home to recover. It isn't long before she connects with "Jonathan," a man from an online site and agrees to a date. When she doesn't return home the next morning, Rosie fears the worst. What sets this book apart for me is that Laura isn’t just concerned for her sister but for “Johnathon” as well. I love a book that has two points and gives you the complete twisty picture. With this book you get the added sessions with her physiatrist. I don’t want to give too much of the story away. I will say The Night Before is unique and worth the time to read.… (meer)

Interesting Page Turner

This is one of the better books that I have read this year. I have read The Night Before by Wendy Walker which I loved and this is no different. I can for sure get behind the obsession that is Don’t Look for Me. I actually received an arc of this book when it was first published and for some reason never got around to downloading it. My apologies. So, when I saw it at Barnes and Noble on my last trip I knew I had to have it. The cover really draws you in. Now let us talk about the book.

Don't Look for Me is a book about a mother who goes missing and her fierce daughter who is determined to find her. Nicole will find her mother regardless of all the evidence leads to the fact that her mother does not want to be found. The main theme in the book is child-parent bonding and the strong love of a mother who fights to survive. It addresses loss, grief, and guilt. If those are your triggers please give yourself time to heal before you pick this one up but it is for sure with the time.

It is well-written and character-driven. The story is told from two different points of view, Nicole the daughter and Molly the mother. When a family experiences a traumatic loss, each family member griefs differently and this was addressed in the book gently. It was also the main inner drive between Nicole and Molly. This is known to the reader because it was very well described and beautifully depicted in the writing. It's a fast-paced read that will keep you turning every page just to find out what happened to Molly. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. I hope you get to meet Alice, a character I loved! You might not understand her in the end but you will love her.
