2022 movie #168. 1947. Set in 1927, a musical about college life at fictitious Tait U. I only taped this because June Allyson was in it. I had to endure two truly horrible musical numbers before she even appeared. Couldn't watch any more of it.
On a small island in the South Pacific, the Navy’s P.R. department is spending WWII without getting near a ship. Lt. Max Siegal is the Second in command to a clueless Commanding Officer who believes Sea Duty to be the worst punishment he can give one of his men. Siegal has to keep the foreign correspondents happy, keep his Commander out of trouble and figure out a way for one of the enlisted sailors to date the lady Lieutenant of his dreams – all while convincing a certain island schoolteacher that he’s the man for her. A rich woman's ex-husband crashes her wedding.
C+ (Okay).
This story wasn't good when it was Philadelphia Story, and this version of it is sloppily written. It's a good cast, though. They make an effort to have fun. And the music isn't bad.
