This is a great story for beginner readers, because the sentences are simple and the vocabulary in the book is simple. For example, the first sentence of the book is, "There are three children in Fred's family," this is an example of the many simple sentences in the book. This book is also good for schools that have a lot of diversity because the main character and his family are African American. While sleeping in their shells the armadillos roll all over town.. The towns people pick them up thinking they are different things, such as food and balls. When they realize they are not these items they panic and get upset. They all end up back at the camp site and wake up to return home. All ten, perfect armadillos return home. This would be a good book to read when talking about the number 10 or even numbers.… (meer)
