Clarence Watkins is a native Memphian and a graduate of Memphis State University. He currently lives in Pelham, Alabama. He is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) and the cofounder of the Southern Association Conference. Clarence serves on the board of directors of the toon meer Friends of Rickwood. He is the author of Images of Baseball: Baseball in Birmingham. toon minder

Baseball in Montgomery door Clarence Watkins
Mostly a picture book, it did remind me of the Montgomery Rebels games I attended during the team's heyday in the 1970s when it won several pennants and many future Detroit Tigers passed through. It's also a reminder of all those men who toiled in the minor leagues, some with significant success, like Smokey Robinson, but never even got a cup of coffee in the Majors.
