Given that the market has been glutted with WWII fiction, including mystery novels, I've been keeping and eye out for titles set in WWI and its immediate aftermath. The Clock Struck Murder, however, didn't deliver what I was hoping for. The bottom line is that it's just too "cozy" for my tastes. The central character makes the kinds of mistakes that central characters do in cozy mysteries—the kind of mistakes that never let me forget that what I'm reading is 100% fiction. If you are a cozy fan, you should definitely check this title out. It's a good fit with the genre. If you're ambivalent about cozies the way I am, you'll want to keep looking for something else.

I received a free electronic review copy of this title from the publisher via NetGalley; the opinions are my own.

Not particularly good book, but I did love the anteater. Plot okay, characters lifted from a soap opera but the setting was fun

I have never been to Iceland until I read "The Puffin of Death" by [a: Betty Webb|155603|Betty Webb|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1204062974p2/155603.jpg]

An adventure, Teddy gets to travel with an expense account to pick up critters for the Gunn Zoo's new Northern Climes exhibit. Their new habitat will welcome a baby polar bear, and a few other pairs. How difficult can it be to learn about the orphaned polar bear, and get it back to Gunn Zoo?

It is never boring with Teddy (Theodora Bentley) along.

Betty Webb is a story master. Suspense and mystery are rife throughout the book. I never guessed who the bad guys or good guys were.

The final reveal is a shocker, and I love when an author can do that.

Plots and subplots, puffins, strange birds. Zoo employees, birders, police, a best selling author and artists bring a steamy cast and complex buffet of intrigue.

Romance teeters on the edge of fun and mayhem. Never one to venture outside of The States, I am curious about Iceland, and put it on my bucket list.

Thank you,

A constant reader.

Sometimes The Monster in the Closet Dies

Foster kids get a voice, and a rare case of closure. In celebration of the progress of Lena's healing I will not harass prolific and genius author Betty Webb for the sequel. What is next?
