Neil Wenborn graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge, and worked at the Bodleian Library in Oxford before pursuing a successful career in publishing. He is now a full-time author and publishing consultant, whose other works include biographies of Mozart and Haydn. He is also co-editor of the toon meer highly respected Companion to British History. His poetry has been published both in Britain and in the United States and has been awarded two prestigious international prizes. toon minder

The Hamlyn Pictorial History of the 20th Century door Wenborn
This volume provides a pictorial record of the 20th century, year by year, and has been updated to include the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
I haven't yet read or consulted this work because I haven't had a need to do so. But I do notice that the list of contributors (included in the front matter) is MOST impressive. I wouldn't hesitate to cite these sources in a forum at any university in the world. Some might argue, but nobody would laugh.
A short and informative book. The author provides an account of the key figures and events of the French revolution.
Six British historians contribute to a comprehensive dictionary which not only is a reference work for events, people and places from 43 AD, but also acknowledges that history is as much about the writing of what happened as what actually did happen. It also includes information on historical concepts and controversy.
