When 20-year-old Cilla’s beloved aunt dies, Cilla has to travel to the Seychelles as a condition of the will. According to the will, handsome Theo Randall (who is 34) is appointed her trustee and she can only use a certain amount of money a year with his (or one other trustees’) approval. This situation causes friction with Cilla’s sister (Joanna) who was shortchanged in the will. While in the Seychelles, Cilla becomes friendly with the hero's lonely 12-year-old nephew Anthony. She is also attracted to Theo.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the beautiful Seychelles location. I liked the heroine Cilla, who was a bit naïve and trusting at times, but still sweet. Theo was a kind, arrogant, but likable hero. Anthony was cute.

An entertaining Harlequin Romance from the 70’s.

Spoilers ahoy! Ye be warned...

Usually these old school covers match the description of the characters perfectly, but this cover got Peter's hair color wrong.

Anyway, this story was predictable because once Claire's sister, Molly, let the reader know Claire was once a carefree, messy-haired person, you can guess why Peter let Deirdre, the "other woman," do whatever she pleases.

Basically, Claire wants to work for Peter—whom she loved since she first met him as a teen—so she changed herself from wild child to the perfect, calm and composed employee. She's been working for Peter for 9 months when the story began. That's when Peter brought Deirdre into the picture. She's an orphan out to get as much money out of Peter as she can, only Peter acted like she's an innocent thing that can do no wrong. Peter was actually trying to get a rise out of Claire and be her true self, but that didn't happen until the last couple pages of the book so they all had to put up with horrible Deirdre for months!!

Molly was right, Peter is sadistic and Claire is a masochist. When Claire got into an accident, she had a hard time healing because she was stressed out about Deirdre taking her role [as Peter's personal assistant/secretary] and all she thought about was how much Peter needed her [to run the household]. Girl, please show some self respect!! There is more to life than Peter!

The frugal Asian in me cringed at the amount of money wasted on Deirdre. Couldn't you guys have solved your problems by talking instead?! That's what ended happening anyway...

This book used "lubra" to describe aboriginals. Google tells me it's not PC. :-O

This is one of the better Harlequin romances. Naturally it involves an intricate pas de deux between an innocent young girl and a sophisticated evil woman. It's not hard to guess who wins the heart of the hero.
