Guy Yeoman, explorer, mountaineer and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, first went to East Africa in 1942 when, as a young army officer, he was involved in raising an African jungle warfare unit for the war against Japan in Burma. This early experience brought him into close contact with toon meer the people, the extraordinary landscapes and the rich wildlife of the continent. It left an indelible mark on the young Guy Yeoman and his passionate interest for Africa and its people would endure until his death in 1998 toon minder

A coffee table style book, this is an in-depth look at the European discovery of the many sources of the Nile. It describes in detail the Nile Basin consisting of Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda and its people when the English first met them. The English were egotistical boors, & the Arabs were still kidnapping slaves(slavery had been abolished in the West). Only Henry Morton Stanley, an illegitimate Welshman who moved to America and whom, therefore, the author called the American, had any lick of sense. Contains numerous glossy color photos and many maps. The author describes the landscapes and sometimes the people in extraordinary detail, his having lived and worked there since the 1940s. Trigger warnings: descriptions of how some African tribes killed their own people were bone-chilling.… (meer)
