A coffee table style book, this is an in-depth look at the European discovery of the many sources of the Nile. It describes in detail the Nile Basin consisting of Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda and its people when the English first met them. The English were egotistical boors, & the Arabs were still kidnapping slaves(slavery had been abolished in the West). Only Henry Morton Stanley, an illegitimate Welshman who moved to America and whom, therefore, the author called the American, had any lick of sense. Contains numerous glossy color photos and many maps. The author describes the landscapes and sometimes the people in extraordinary detail, his having lived and worked there since the 1940s.
