This book is about a little boy and his gradnpa (dada-ji) who have these powers of strength, agilty, wisdom, and others. Then the also make Roti together and stack it high.
Good relationship with family, especially grandparents they're great storytellers, it shows how the kid helps his grandpa be mighty again, I think it should be a kinder to 2nd grade book read aloud.
The illustrations are exuberant, colorful and cartoon-like. While I like the story line the text at the beginning is a little small for me and feels too crowded and out of place within the lively and bold images. It does change as the grandfather is telling stories and that makes it more fun, but again goes back to being small and crowded when he's finished with his stories. It has a definite tall tale vibe while the grandfather is speaking and this is the best part of the book. The multicultural aspect and including Indian words and phrases does make it more special and adds authenticity.… (meer)
