Advertisement text (18 July): "Philadelphia, July 17, 1780. To be SOLD at Public Vendue, On MONDAY next, at the house of Mrs. ALISON, the next door to the College in Fourth-street. ALL the BOOKS of the Rev. Dr. FRANCIS ALISON, deceased, with some houshold and kitchen furniture. N.B. Those persons who have not returned the Books they have borrowed, are again requested to return them before the day of sale."

Advertisement text (29 July and 1 August): "Philadelphia, July 29, 1780. BOOKS by AUCTION. A CATALOGUE of the LIBRARY of the late reverend FRANCIS ALISON, D.D: Will be ready this morning to be delivered at his late Dwelling House, to all who wish to become Purchasers. The SALE of the BOOKS by AUCTION will commence on the morning of Monday the 31st instant, at the said House, and will be continued from day to day till all are Sold. N.B. House of Sale each day, from Ten to One o'Clock in the Forenoon; and from Three to Six o'Clock in the Afternoon."
