- thewordygecko: Beautifully written and constructed and a mesmerising story. I love memoirs that are imaginative and go deeply into the human emotions and the complexity of our behaviours.

- thewordygecko: An important and tragic story so well told by Matt Taibbi. Really gets to the heart of who Eric Garner was as a person, and exposes the injustices that led to his death.

- thewordygecko: Oh wow, this made me very angry. I was aware of the history of the Indonesian massacre of their citizens who were communists but this gives the complete story in all of its horror, including the involvement of the US and Australia and other countries in the killings. He reveals how this appallingly event influenced US anti-communist activity from then on. Well written and constructed and highly recommended.

- thewordygecko: A stunning book about the lives of the women who were murdered by the Ripper; not the horrible murders themselves, but the women's lives, as much as the author could discover from her research. Reveals the injustices and prejudices and misogyny of the era in which they lived. Grateful to the author for giving these women some voice and making them 'real' people, without the sensationalism.

- thewordygecko: A wonderful memoir written around the importance of music in the author's life. Includes a playlist. I loved this book for the completely unpretentious way it was written, for the great stories he includes, and the emotional honesty of his writing.
