- Over mijn bibliotheek
- As I said above, I read mostly fiction, but some non-fiction sneaks in, especially social sciences - history, sociology, anthropology, etc. My listing also includes my textbooks from my engineering education.
Within fiction, my favorites include: classic and contemporary literature; quirky, fun books and serious, dramatic works; magical realism and realistic fiction, so basically ... everything. I also read some random non-fiction - mostly on specific subjects that interest me or authors whose previous works I've enjoyed.
My favorite three books of all time are A Prayer for Owen Meany, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Pride & Prejudice. (Yes, they're semi-predictable, but I don't really care!)
My favorite three authors are John Irving, Jane Austen, and Kurt Vonnegut. (And I'll add an honorable mention to Douglas Adams for always making my day a little brighter when necessary.)
Due to my father's aesthetic influences, I treasure beautifully bound volumes. If you have interest, I'd love to talk! I have a collection of classics that I inherited from my great-grandmother and a small collection of Folio Society volumes (some of the most beautiful books currently produced). - Over mij
- I'm a graduate student and research assistant at Penn State University in the Engineering Science department. My research involves laser material interactions. Because that's my job, I read a lot of fiction in my free time. At work and in school I read engineering textbooks and research papers.
I am a contributor to Project Gutenberg through the Distributed Proofreaders, mostly as a Content Provider and a Post-Processor. If you would like more information on PG or DP, please contact me!
I challenged myself to read as many books as I could off the "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die" list. My TBR list also grows from several trusted blogs, friend's recommendations, and need to occasionally read something semi-brainless.
