Botanical Dimensions Ethnobotany Library
Over mijn bibliotheek

Botanical Dimensions is an organization dedicated to collect, protect, propagate and understand plants of human use and their lore. This Ethnobotany Library has been compiled by ethnobotanist and founder, Kathleen Harrison. The library currently holds 2,000 books and periodicals on interdisciplinary aspects of the plant-culture relationship: botany, mycology, ecology, anthropology, mythology, herbalism, ritual, travel, traditional environmental knowledge, indigenous knowlege, California studies, Pacific studies, Amazonian studies, psychedelic traditions and their 20th century developments, and more. We are gradually listing them all on LibraryThing, and uploading the actual cover images, a work in progress. From 2015-2020, we hosted classes on a variety of topics related to plants, fungi and knowledge — a global and historically deep view of ethnobotany and ethnomycology — and the BD Library grew a community of interested readers. From 2021-2023, this library was open for research only. The collection of books seen here will be kept together, due to its unique themes and provenance. The collection will move to a new setting, under another owner, in 2024, with the plan for it to be publicly available in time. It will remain viewable here on LibraryThing, as a window into a way of seeing and studying the profound relationships between nature, cultures, and knowledge. See www.botanicaldimensions.org for more information.
