Over mijn bibliotheek

My library is mostly fiction, with interest in literary and upmarket, character-driven novels. I love a story about people from different cultural backgrounds with settings in foreign and/or little-known places. I'm fascinated by ordinary people, the ones you might underestimate at a glance. Who is that old man leaning into the bus stop? Where has he been the last several decades? What isn't he telling us? I want to be introduced to a different mindset, something that questions what I'm thinking now and how I arrived at this point of view. I want something to tickle my mind. For this reason, my choice of non-fiction books are philosophical types.

Over mij

Born in Canada, now transplanted in Chile, I have lived in Bolivia and Spain and did a short stint in England. Bilingual (English and Spanish), I still sometimes put my foot in it with Chilean slang. But that's the fun of it.

I'm a baby-boomer with a few stories of my own. I mean, when you really think about it, what are we without our stories? I cringe if someone asks what I know because it feels like I don't know much. But I have so many stories to tell. How does that work?

I've written 3 novels (South of Centre, Hard Bed Hotel and Threads), all set in Chile. The stories unravel through multiple narratives with quirky characters who transport us along twisting paths. I want these stories to entertain readers the way I like to be entertained.
