Over mijn bibliotheek
Our library here at LibraryThing bears no direct relation to our actual library. Here we have recommendations and reviews by faculty and students, and some of the books here may not actually be in our library. But you may browse student and faculty recommendations to see what takes your fancy. Since often our patrons do much of their voluntary reading while away from school, this virtual library of recommendations may lead readers to their local public libraries or elsewhere.
Over mij
This LibraryThing account was started by librarians at Folke Bernadotte Memorial Library at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, USA.

Count Folke Bernadotte, after whom our library was named, was a member of the Swedish royal family who died while promoting peace in the Middle East. Since our college was founded by Swedish immigrants and was one of the first to offer a peace studies program, we are honored to bear his name.

One of our goals in creating this space for sharing reading experiences is because developing a personal taste for books and reading is something we hope to encourage. And the good news is that our students - and we suspect college students generally - are far more interested in books and reading than is generally acknowledged. It's not their fault entirely if they don't have much time to read. I have a feeling our faculty might feel the same way.
