James Brice (26 August 1746 - 11 July 1801), Maryland statesman. The son of John Brice and Sarah Frisby. Brice served as captain of an independent Annapolis company in March 1776, becoming colonel in 1779. He sat on Maryland's Executive Council (1777-1799), and held various state and local offices, including alderman of Annapolis (1780-1792), mayor of Annapolis (1782-1783, 1788-1789); Annapolis Councilman (1793-1801); and Acting Governor of Maryland (1792) on the death of Gov. George Plater. He was a member of the Electoral College for Maryland in the first two federal elections, both times supporting George Washington.

The Brice house, at 42 East Street in Annapolis, was the largest townhouse built in the city during the colonial period. It is reputed to be haunted.

James Brice married Julianna Jennings in 1781; the couple had six children.
