Over mijn bibliotheek
Looking around at my shelves of books, I guess I have a couple of fascinations...

I have a fascination with the people and place surrounding secret city of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and in particular Robert Oppenheimer. We lived out there for a short time, so this helped to fan the flames of my interest, but it all really started when I saw the film Infinity with Matthew Broderick. At any rate, I've read several books and own quite a few books about the topic with several others still on my TBR pile and on my wishlist.

Another several shelves are taken up with books on Buddhism. Some regard Zen, some Vipassana, some Tibetan, and some are strictly basic life advice written by HH the Dali Lama.

There are many books about the brain - the mechanical workings of it... and epilepsy and traumatic brain injury recovery. These have been collected since my husband's brain tumor surgery in 2001. And, of course, many books on cancer have also come through the house since that time.

I am drawn to biography and autobiographical sketches. I like to read about the lives of writers and other artists, mostly. I also love good stories, good characters, interesting tales. I believe I read a pretty good mix of both fiction and nonfiction. I try to read some new writers as well as the great old classic stuff of which there is still so much that I have yet to explore.

My guilty pleasures include the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz; and certain vampires (Queen Betsy comes to mind, but so does LeStat); and the occasional Christopher Moore. (My husband and I read these aloud to each other and laugh out loud, as well!)

Bringing my library to LT has been very slow and not at all methodical. There are still boxes of books in storage and in the garage. *sigh* Some day.
