Over mij

My mother used to have to drag me away from bookstores as we passed by them in the mall so we could finish our other shopping, and she would joke that my wedding dress would have to have a pocket for a book, because I could never bear to be without at least one, even for a few minutes. On one vacation, I actually read all the 15 or so books I took, plus the ones my mother and my sister also brought. We went to a library in the little town in Spain where we were staying--it was a British library and you would borrow the books for a fee, but they were in English so we were happy to have more to read, there on the beach by the Mediterranean Sea.

Books are my friends, a joy and a delight, a comfort in troubled times, and the keys to other worlds.
