Over mij
Well now that I have been using LibraryThing for a while, let me profile myself. Just this month I became Grandma for the second time. The picture here is of #1 G-son, Quin. Now there is a #2 baby boy, Madden. I am so glad I have plenty of time to get involved with my grandsons. I work in two libraries but with the economy I don't work as much as I once did. My house is full of books. With a 21st century MLIS degree you would think I would be satisfied to access the newest books through my work library or online. No I had to get voted on to the board of the Friends of the Library. My primary mission it seems to me is to rescue books from the trash. One of the tasks as a Friend is to sort through the books but I have a hard time sorting through the donations picking out the best stuff for our used bookstore and sending other stuff away. For to me it's, "Oh my, you poor darling book, why did you get trashed? Doesn't anybody want you? I'll care for you?" The other Friends tell me they don't want to sell anything older than 5 years, for they think nobody will buy it. "I'll buy it! I'll buy it!" And so there goes my hard earned cash and here come more books for my house. How many books cases do I have in my house? Not enough. Anyway I love Library Thing. Perhaps I will throw away some of the books that are old but falling apart. I suppose I can keep a little memorial here in LT to these dear old precious books. I always fear someone will throw out the last copy of a book and there will be no memory of it. But I know there are others too that care about the old and antiquated.
