Over mijn bibliotheek
Note: I have a second account under the user name 'AntarcticDreams' where I'll list books I've read (and reviewed) that I don't own and books I've had enough contact with that I know I want to own someday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a reader but I think my library is more representative of my collecting side - I'll admit, it's often more about the books themselves, not reading... I get quite absorbed in acquiring books when I'm taken with a certain author or thread of interest. I love the book as an object just as much as a vehicle of ideas/expression. Don't you dare dangle a new serial in front of my nose...MUST OWN THEM ALL!

The overall collection is pretty mixed and there are a significant amount of books still waiting to be read. Some books I own I've read, but really wouldn't own a permanent copy of if it weren't for the fact I acquired a copy at a garage sale or something and just like the volume or am too lazy to purge it. I always thought I had a huge collection but I'm in the lower ranks with this crowd! Logging everything into a database this way, I am surprised at how it looks... In reality I always felt the bulk of my library was my favorite books and older volumes that I cherished. Now it seems like it's manly comprised of stuff I haven't read yet, reference/research materials, and serials (just when did I acquire all those damn Harlequins?!?)

Where does SimPenguin keep her books?

Mostly, here:

I've built a dividing wall with shelves and desks in the main room of my apartment, creating two spaces:

There are *more* shelves in the bedroom and porch (and kitchen) Gah!

Over mij
I have a million interests - So mixed in with what I enjoy reading is quite a bit of reference material. Hobbies include building websites, creating digital art, doing genealogy research, needle crafts, reading (of course), tv fandoms, actor worship, collecting books, and other interests drift in and out regularly. I am interested in city planning, skyscrapers, penguins, bees, history, books, teacups, and a thousand other things. Favorite authors are numerous but you will see a lot of HG Wells, Alcott, Doyle, and Douglas Adams in my library. I love Beethoven. Books about books make me hot.
