Over mijI've been writing for publication since I was twelve years old, primarily freelancing for various magazines, and of course this has involved constant and voracious reading. Which brings me here.

During all those years, I worked as a schoolteacher, a convenience store clerk, a low-level federal bureaucrat, a taxi driver (in the pre-Uber days), a college writing instructor, and some other jobs I've tried to forget. But always reading. Always.

Very recently, for reasons that would be hard to explain, I've started writing a series of young adult novels. It remains to be seen how these will be received, but writing them is an unmitigated joy.

Of greater importance is that I'm a father and grandfather. My children are all readers, too, and I pray that my grandchildren will be, as well. And I'm an unapologetic, Bible-believing Christian. The Bible says, "of making many books there is no end" (Ecclesiastes 12:12). This site is certainly a vivid illustration of that truth!

Over mijn boekenSo many books have been lost over so many years that I can't even begin to remember them. By looking at my current library, I am led to books that I've experienced in the past; I'll catalog them as faithfully as I can, but it'll take time! I've always leaned more toward nonfiction than fiction, and my enthusiasms can be discerned from the books I'm listing.
