Over mijThe Allen County Public Library has been part of the social and cultural fabric of Fort Wayne, Indiana and surrounding communities since 1895. Then known as the Fort Wayne Public Library, it served residents with 3606 volumes in a room in City Hall. Since then it has grown to consist of the main library in downtown Fort Wayne and thirteen branches in the city and outlying communities.
Fort Wayne has been cited as the Best Read City in the United States by Places Rated Almanac, due in large part to the library's collection and patrons' use of it.
In 2005, our patrons borrowed 2,148,622 adult books, 1,354,783 children's books, 76,959 sound recording materials, 688,686 videos and DVDs, 39,217 software and 1,096,823 other materials. Our facilities were visted by 2,506,718 people while our electronic resources and database were accessed 2,984,496 times. 164, 296 people attended our programs and our librarians answered 183,367 research questions.
Over mijn boekenThis is an experimental LibraryThing collection. We are testing adding titles that have been in our staff picks display for the past year, tagging them with staff members' first names.
