- About the list
This page is dedicated to honoring and celebrating books by, for and about people of color that have been censored within libraries mostly in the U.S. The list focuses specifically on public and school libraries with a special focus on libraries within Oregon.
Eventually, each book listed will link to or explain the particular instances of censorship. This library will be a constant work in progress as more books are challenged, banned, and censored everyday. - Over mij
- Why Banned Books of Color?
The idea for this list came to me when I was asked to create a display for Banned Books Week at my branch of the public library. This branch's special collection was of the works of African and African-American authors. I wanted to highlight the works from the special collection but I could not find the resources to create a significant display.
