Lidbibliophil

I am generally alternating between two books at a time: one fiction, one non-fiction. I am especially partial to thrillers/detective noir/literary fiction. Non-fiction is mostly biographies. It took me a while to accept what a reader friend told me some time ago: you know you have reached maturity when you can put down a book you don't like. And I loathe poorly written stuff.

I was fortunate enough to be able to retire at a relatively young age (50), with the financial resources to live comfortably, if not lavishly. I dedicate my mornings (7:00 am to noon) exclusively to reading. I'm a fast reader, with good retention, so usually knock off 4-5 books per week.
