Lidbooksmatterochiso

These books are for Heritage Academy in Assin Ochiso, in the Central Region of Ghana. The school has approximately 250 students. Founded by the Shoerke Foundation, this school was constructed to boost literacy rates in Ghana, along with initiate a more formative and comprehensive curriculum for students.

This library was created by Books Matter, a non-profit that sends books to schools in Ghana, West Africa. When we are finished cataloging these books, later in February, they will be shipped out of Toronto. We have so far sent books to about thirty schools in Ghana. We pay for shipping costs with money raised on our website.
We found out about this school through an American who is presently working in Ghana. She is a 25-year-old university graduate who has worked, traveled, and lived in Ghana for the past six years. She spearheaded this donation in order to create a library as "a way of giving back to a community that so graciously gave so much to me."
