Over mijn bibliotheek
Unfortunately, my library includes almost nothing I read before the age of 17, when I read constantly and mostly indiscriminately. When I was in high school, I decided I wanted to have my own library, so I abandoned the public library and started buying all my books. Sometimes expensive, but necessary if you want to build any kind of collection. Besides, books are the primary non-necessity I spend money on (except travel). I do still use the library sometimes to read up on drier subjects that I don't necessarily want to spend hundreds buying books about, like health or investment.

So ten years later, I have 500+ books. That works out to about 50 books per year. Not bad—I have actually read almost everything I own. There are so many books and so little time, so I'm always looking for quality, trying to find the best books out there.

Over mij
I used to be a book editor, but I left publishing because the pay was dismal. Now I read purely for fun and make a better living. I read fiction, fiction, fiction--preferably contemporary. It may look like I'm into classics, but most of those volumes were assigned reading at some point, although I have actually chosen to read some classics lately and really enjoyed them. I studied the history of books as part of my literature major. Pretty cool I think.
