Over mijI am a formerly voracious reader who has become a stay-at-home mother of a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old and who therefore has much less time for reading adult books although I do read aloud to the children several times a day. I have a doctorate in cognitive psychology and am interested in how children learn, in particular how they learn math and science.
Over mijn boekenThis started off being my daughter's library and became the kids' library. Daughter is now 7-and-three-quarters and son has just turned 4 so the rate at which short, easy chapter books are being added to the picture books has increased dramatically in the past year as she has evolved into a strong independent reader. This serves as reading diary as well as catalog so the 30-50 books/week that we check out of the library are the bulk of it. We tend to avoid purchasing books that drive us (me) batty to read aloud over and over and over again although some of those are certainly daughter favorites that get checked out of the library more than once. Her library at home is an eclectic mix of books she likes that we can stand.
Favorite illustrators include Steve Jenkins, Sylvia Long, Meilo So, Betsy Lewin, Denise Fleming and Mary Azarian.
