Last year I shed myself of almost my entire book collection. Painful, but true! This collection here corresponds mostly to research for articles and a book in progress I'm writing. Some I own, some are on perpetual NYPL loan. I've still got a pile of McCarthy, Faulkner and Powers around, but I've largely kept fiction off this list.

I'm a freelance journalist working in New York. My writing appears in publications such as The New York Times, Wired and Slate. I write on culture, science and technology, with a special interest in the "ideas" beat.
