I'm limiting my listings here (with the exception of the reference books I use more often than others) to books I've already read. Since I own several Kindles (a wonderful addition when you're short on shelf space!) I've added numerous titles to my library within the past 10 years ... Although the books I have read are pretty much an accurate take on my interests and hobbies, I also like to mix it up occasionally by reading a book that I wouldn't have selected at first glance...I 'found' many gems this way!

Although I occasionally read fiction I tend to gravitate toward biographies or history-related topics. I usually 'just say no' to horror, sci-fi, and harlequin-style romance novels. I might read an occasional mystery if it has an animal as the main character :)

My initial goal was to read 1000 books by the time I retired, and I made that goal a few weeks after I retired. My next goal is to hit 1300 by the end of 2024. We'll see...

Because my husband (username paxtonville) and daughter (GraysieGirl) also own hundreds of books, I have either borrowed, given away or traded many of these listed. I also regularly borrow books from nearby libraries. I am attempting to tag the origin of each book in case I decide to go back to it later. There are a handful of exceptional books that I wholeheartedly recommend and I have tagged them as such (i.e."recommended").

For me, quality time is spent sipping coffee and reading either on my patio when the weather is agreeable, or in my wing-back chair in front of the fireplace when it is not. I love to browse through local bookstores or wander around one of the university libraries in several nearby communities.

I also enjoy traveling, bicycling, taking classes on my computer, puttering in my kitchen, spending time with my kitties, going to festivals
