Over mijWorking in my college library sparked the cataloging instinct in me. After college I taught myself MS Access(tm) and created my own database. It grew over the years, but I've never learned enough programming to grab data directly from the libraries, so LibraryThing is a great time saver.... I take it back. LT is a time sink. Hours and hours spent adding books, verifying data, reading messages, etc.
I have many interests: books, bookmaking, fantasy, science fiction, cats, beading, crochet, embroidery, anime, math, astronomy, folklore, etc. It will be interesting to see how my reading habits reflect the above when I've finished cataloging.
Over mijn boekenWill the library ever be organized?! Answer: Not if I keep buying books.
I catalog my comic books in comicbookdb.com, since it is better suited to cataloging comics than LT, but I regularly import them here so that I can export all the info into PalmThing!
When collections were first discussed, Your Library was the only collection I thought I'd use. However, as I purge, I've decided to move books to the Read But Not Owned collection. Currently reading can be fun when I don't update it regularly. "I forgot I was reading X when I got distracted by Y." I didn't plan on using any others but I've decided to put my ebook-only books into their own collection, which keeps Your Library to physical books in the house or storage.
I'm still verifying data and hoping for the illusive organized library and catalog.
