Just read Border's filed Chapter 11 and will close 200 of it's 642 stores. I hope they don't close the one here.

I read that too :( Very disappointing to see yet another bookstore struggling :(

I googled around and found a list of the stores that will be disappearing, if you're interested in seeing if yours is among them, you can check it here:

Unfortunately mine is one of the ones listed. Goodbye Borders, was nice knowin' ya :(

Mine is safe for now. Thank goodness. But a mom and pop one I enjoyed is closeing it's doors at the end of the month. Sad tmes, like when the record stores all closed.

#2 Ours is closing. We loved the coffee and atmosphere. Wonder when the B&N will close.

All the ones in the UK have gone. I miss ours very much, especially the branch of Starbucks upstairs.

B&N will be the last one to close...but they all will, starting with the small mom and pop's first...truly sad. Kindle and the likes was the death knell for bookstores.

The one that is on walking distance from where I live is closing :(

I disagree - there will always be bookstores.

We went to our Borders a few says ago and it was sad! Coffee shop closed. Since it's in receivership and everything is 20-40% right now, the orderly shelves are a thing of the past. Sad.

I don't like out B&N for a dumb reason - that strip mall is a driver's nightmare. So I tend to avoid it and it is really a very nice store. And we don't have anything else in the local area - even the used book stores and book swaps have closed.

I just spoke with our local librarian and she told me that their annual budget is 20% for books and 80% for videos, electronic games, and computer programs. Wahhhhhhhhhhh.

That's horribly wrong!

It is encouraging that the librarians and other support staff are able to volunteer their time for nothing though. The library must be in a very sturdy building that needs no maintenance or other works. Utility companies must be providing their services gratis as well.

;)

I was very upset when I found out that Border's had filed chapter 11. I have shopped at both B&N and Borders and have realized that I actually like the Borders more. I am happy that neither of the Borders near me are closing at the present time. I hope that they never close. I actually like this list because it lists by state:
