My review http://www.librarything.com/review/39694956

It is certainly not a brilliant review, but it does try to give my opinion of the book. (On the other hand I think the other blue flag on that book is spam, and there is another review that should be blue flagged.)

I hate to say it, but my guess is that someone flagged it because they disagreed with it.

#1 and 2 It's no longer flagged. How many other legitimate reviews are getting red- or blue-flagged? (And I have to agree with the other 2 blue flags on this work's reviews.)

I think that micketymoc had a blog, but that it no longer exists, which is why some of his old reviews can no longer be reached by the links.

Thanks to those who unflagged my review.

MarthaJeanne--I started another thread using your example for another purpose. Wanted you to know. Thanks. And I agree, you review shouldn't have been flagged.

I was looking at my reviews (all 6 of them) and decided to click on the other review written by hamiltonpam. It has a blue flag. Anyone know why?

Edited to add link

There is no way to know unfortunately and it appears a lot of that member's were blue-flagged. I went back on the ones still showing and counter flagged.

#7 Thanks debavp. To me that review was certainly more valuable than the call numbers, prices and links to library catalogs that rightly should be blue flagged.

Those are all clear now. My guess is that someone thought they were too short. Some people seem to think that only reviews of a few hundred words are really reviews. Many of these would not have been acceptable for Early Reviewers, but the 25 word minimum only counts there.

I was poking through a few reviews today and came across this list of reviews:

http://www.librarything.com/profile_reviews.php?view=Stef.Gyssels

They are obviously from a 10 point scale, but all the person put into the review field is the number. To me, this is still a review, so why did they get flagged?

A number is not a review.

@10-- could also be an import gone wrong as they are all on the same date that I saw.

11 > A number on an obvious scale is just as much a review as "No" is.

It is not an obvious scale. It could be a shelf indicator, a box number, or anything else. Next you'll be defending prices as reviews, on grounds that if someone was willing to pay $13.99 for a book it must mean they liked it. If we're not just going to throw up our hands and call it the "Random stuff" field, then there needs to be a line somewhere, and I'm very comfortable drawing that line to exclude "r", "$7.99", or "3".

No, a price is definitely not a review. A simple code of ZB13, or Q2P5 is not a review. But if you look at all of the user's reviews and see numerous 7's, 8's, and 10's, would you not allow for a ten point scale?

Of course, this isn't to say I haven't sent a private message to the user asking for an explanation of their reviews. Whether I get anything will depend on if they even bother to log in any more.

10+> I've gotten to the point that I'm leaving a polite "It appears you may be having a problem with the review function of the site. Here's the link to the wiki page about reviews. Do you need some help?" on these.

In this case, I would have mentions the star rating system as well.

Have yet to get a reply outside of a single "It's my review. I'll do what I want" Most folks are just turning off their comments seems like when they get noticed.

edit: Just as an FYI, Rating needs to be looked at as it's nearly empty.
