For someone with more dollars than sense, this is from the 2011 Nieman Marcus Catalog along with an article that includes more detail and a video.

I love the thought of a "bespoke library". But for that much money, there better be a hell of lot more shelves!

So you pay $500 a book for 250 books and they donate some money to charity and throw in some shelves and stuff? Seems eminently fair to me. ;)

What James and I enjoyed about this is that their library is 250 books. I think we have some bookcases that hold that much by themselves.

I did find the typographic rug appealing though. Not enough shelves in the "library" though. Nor books.

I remember when I used to watch home improvement shows and how disappointed I was when they did library rooms. It might have one bookcase. One show did a room where there were 2 bookcases but they filled one with random books they picked up at a thrift store purely for looks and then did a bookcase wallpaper where they made one wall look like it was covered in books, but it was all fake. I had a hard time believing there were people who wanted a look of a library but didn't actually own any books!

Hello,

What an incredible horrible advert! It certainly gives a new definition to the word 'Library'. 250 books? surely that's simply a good weekend's shopping trip ;-)

I find it very sad that people would need to have someone else to produce a room with given object d'art and framed prints, let alone books!

It also looks fake and ugly, how much nicer to look at real people's book shelves, book cases and Libraries on LibraryThing.

I'm very much afraid that I have at least that many books in piles on my floor!

Totally agree about the rug! I can't find that one, but if you google "typography" or "letterpress" and "rug", there are quite a few examples out there. I'm a bit tempted, I'll admit.

CB2 had a letterpress rug that was quite affordable a couple of months back, it might still be there.

I probably had 250 paperbacks by the time I finished high school. I definitely have bookcases with that many books in them.
