Hello, everyone! I've been noticing recently that a few familiar faces/usernames are missing . . . I don't know if I'm just not noticing your posts, or if people are lurking rather than posting, or if people are too busy to stop by. If you're here, but have been quiet lately, please take a second to say hello and let us know how you are doing! And if you're new to LT or the Hogwarts Express group, or have been lurking but haven't posted before, this is the perfect time and place to introduce yourself!

2ErisofDiscord
okt 31, 2011, 6:40 pm

I've been hanging around for about a month, but I think an official introduction would be nice.

Hello! I am Eris, a teenaged Gothic music freak who likes writing and reading, is obsessed with all things C.S. Lewis and Harry Potter, and I also like chocolate.

It's been real nice talking with everyone here!

Hey Guys!

I'm still here, although I changed my username from Alishamb08 to Theamwriter (for a more writer feel). I have been trying to check in at least once a day but lately my professors are piling on the work, so I'm here but haven't really been posting anything. I'm more or less just reading and commenting when I can.

The end of the semester is first week of December, so I'll be back in full when December gets here.

Hello! I've been lurking and reading posts mostly, I have been swamped with work and college stuff. I'll try to post more often during the weekends.

Hi. I've been pretty lurky lately, but I check in from time to time. If there's an active HEG thread, I've probably been in there, and I check in on the Pottermore developments. And I like to see what you all are reading and watching.

Same for me. I'm on multiple times a day, I just don't necessarily have anything to say!

I've had very little time to check LibraryThing in general. Barely have time to keep the few changes to my catalog updated. I'm trying to get back to reading more posts and this one caught my eye.

I'm here, kinda. My schedule is very hectic, so I haven't been on the threads much. I check in daily for threads I've already posted in, to keep up, but I've only been checking group/new threads once every 2-3 weeks. I've been doing occasional updates on my 75 thread about reading and life stuffs.

My main LT activity these days has been updating my reading. I'm very rarely checking out groups or discussions so I apologize for being out of touch. I'm trying to devote more of my online time to blogging but I'm also on Twitter (@HerBookSelf) quite a bit these days too - but of course it's lovely to stop in and say hello to all of you! I'll try to do so more often!

I've been reading certain threads, but not posting much. with a 7 month old, a two year old, and we have my 12 year old sister-in-law living with us and I'm homeschooling her, I've been pretty busy, but haven't had much to report.

I, too, have been here, and have chuckled and smiled at others fun posts. I can check HE when no one is in exercising at Curves, such as now, but at home I have been cleaning and tossing and going crazy trying to get the house ready to go on the market. I have just two rooms to finish up plus all the extra things to get up like new shower curtain, and other curtains, and pillows and on and on. I don't sleep well at night.

MCR, ETF, SKSK, Weezer, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foster The People, Taking Back Sunday, etc.... yeah... there's ALOT more but still... Anyone that knows what I'm talking about, PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Sorry! I'm doing well. I got in the habit of only lurking when going on LT from my phone. I also haven't been reading as much lately, but probably because what I really want to read is something I don't own. My wallet's kind of sad right now. It's that birthday season in my family - four birthdays in four weeks. This week has two family birthdays as well as one of my closest friend's, so this week is a little busy. I'm also participating in NaNoWriMo and got in my average amount words needed per day, but the day's not over, so I hope to add to it before midnight.

Hi everybody! I've been buried in college work, and haven't had much time to come on LT. When I'm not answering questions about infinity and golden rectangles in math, doing homework on idealism vs realism in art history, studying operant conditioning in psychology, and analyzing poetry and writing essays in english, I'm freaking out about the level of work involved. :oP I've been trying to get some reading in here and there, and I've been crafting like crazy as stress relief. I'm going to try to be a little more present in the future, but I can't promise anything. At least you all know I haven't fallen down a well or been eaten by zombies! ;)

Hi foggi and all , I have been absent. I have been teaching a class at one university, working my administrative job at another and doing dramaturgy projects and it finally just squeezed my time to much to spend much time on line. They are all good things and I love doing them but it has been a bit of a crunch. I am not teaching next quarter so maybe that will ease things a bit.

Doing well! My semester is getting less hectic (I'm an academic librarian), as my guest lectures have slowed in frequency and a couple of big events I coordinate are either behind me or coming together well. I'm continuing to lose weight and feel physically well. And it's baseball season again, with our hometown minor league team home opener this Friday night, yay!

70jugglingpaynes

Good work on the weight loss grk! I've kept up my exercise, but weight loss eludes me.
Life is good here, just busy. My daughter is finishing her final semester at the community college and considering some colleges to transfer to. Some days I'm sure I've driven a hundred miles, but I never get farther than five miles from home. I've been in volunteering, in charge of children's books at our library's bookstore. The bookstore has been such a huge success that the library has been able to fund lots of interesting programs!

The weather is mystifying me as well. In California we keep switching from hot and sunny to stormy and obnoxiously windy. It feels strange dressing for multiple seasons in a single week.

I'm checking in after far too long. I honestly don't have much energy these days. If anyone sees me on FaceBook, I just like that I can check on more people at once. :)

I'm not doing well health-wise - in fact, I'm doing worse - but I try. :/ I resumed my martial arts lessons after stopping them for four months, just being careful about it. It feels so wonderful to do kicks, and dance around on my toes when lightly sparring again!

I recently got a beautiful new work desk and cabinets, donated from my four-year-old assistant's family. Next weekend, I hope to participate in my first martial arts tournament in the forms division.

I know this is all rather work related, but it's my home, six days per week.

I hope everyone's well as may be expected. I miss you guys.

Hi everyone! I've been an excessively bad LT-er so far this year. In January I started 2 unpaid internships, in addition to keeping my paid job. Then took a vacation to Istanbul, and have felt like Ive been half drowning in my to-do list since. I'm hoping things will calm down a bit over the summer, or by autumn at the latest.

As for spring. . . . what spring? We went from snow to 80, back to snow, up to 70, down to freezing rain, and now we're to be 90 today. I wish Mother Nature would just decide already--this back and forth bugs my joints.

Other than being too busy, I'm doing fairly well. But I do miss hanging around the threads.

Hi, I am Karen, also known as maggie1944, and some of you know me from The Green Dragon group or the 75 Books Challenge group. And some of you know I am actively trying to wrestle my life into place so that I can move into a retirement community when a studio apartment becomes available. I am doing MAJOR down sizing. Major, major, major: so, please do not hate me when I say I am off loading many books.

I have book 1: Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone (2 copies); book 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; book 3: Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban; book 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. And book 5 is missing. Book 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince; book 7: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. All hard back. All have been read at least once. Book 3 looks as if it has been used hard, probably in my classroom. It and one of the copies of book 1 have my last name printed on the top of the pages in permanent marker. Go here - http://www.librarything.com/work/5403381/book/17151390 - to see Book 1's cover and that is the series of covers that I have. All of the books have their dust covers.

Please note: these are not in excellent condition but they are definitely good for reading and enjoying.

I am very willing to give these away to some Library Thing friend who would like them. I would ask that you pay for postage or shipping, and packaging. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks.

It's been a while since I posted much, so I thought I'd try to liven things up a bit by reviving a few threads.

Wow, didn't realize how long it had been since I checked in here! I've been extremely busy with my "real world" life the last couple of years. Between college, a death in the family, the death of a favorite dog, and a while later getting a new puppy that had to be trained, and oh, by the way, more college...I have had much free time recently. As far as the question posted so long ago about where I live, no, I don't live in Florida, I live in Louisiana. I'm finally down to my last two semesters of college- I should graduate in May of next year. Then of course all the fun of looking for a job- so grateful my parents have been willing and able to support me through school without me needing to work...no, we're not wealthy, we just stretch the dollars as far as they will possibly go. ..who doesn't these days? I am hoping- fingers crossed- to find a job in retail, to gain some experience, because all of this college has been with the goal of me opening a business, ideally a bookstore/coffee shop. Oddly enough, my town is small enough that the nearest one is about 15 miles away, so I think it could work.

So, I'll be around as much as I can, but no promises on how regularly I'll post or that I won't disappear for a while.

Well, I've been a bad HEer lately. I've been reading a few threads here and there to see what you all are up to, but I haven't had much time to really check in with everyone. I've been very busy with RL and all.

I don't know if I told you all, but we found out that my brother had a brain tumor. They were able to get it out and mom was able to be there when he had the surgery. I came the following week to visit and help out. He's still recovering, and the Dr. says it may be as long as 2 years for a full recovery. Thoughts and prayers would be very much appreciated for him and his family.

I've been very busy at school with trainings and teaching. I just had my "surprise" Teacher of the Year party on Wednesday. It was very cute. They did a Dr. Seuss theme and "snuck" my mom in. However, I did know about the party. I'm the first one to find out in the past 10 years. An accidental email came across with planning details. Oops....I don't like surprises anyway.

I'm still working on my TESOL endorsement through the grant that my school district received. I'll finish those classes and take my certification test in May.

We're still looking for the right pup that will fit into our family. We've been looking since late March. We've had a couple of almosts at local shelters, but the dogs were already gone by the time we got there. It's been really hard for all of us since Kirby died, especially Finnegan. We're not cat people, but a little kitten showed up on our deck last week and really wanted in. He was soooo cute! We could tell that it had people at one time. He ended up sleeping on our front porch for 4 nights. We were actually thinking about inviting him into the family since we couldn't find his owners. However, he hasn't been back.

Good to hear from you, kirby. I'm sorry about your brother, sending prayers his way.
Congratulations on Teacher of the Year!
It's so hard finding a new pet after one that you loved passes on. I feel for you and hope your search ends soon. I would take in that kitten if it comes back (as long as it gets along with Finn). Just remember, you are not replacing Kirby, you are simply adding a new family member to love. Kirby will always have a place in your hearts. {{hugs}}

Hi, Kirby! Congrats on your award! What a fun party theme. I'll pray for your family as you all support your brother during his recovery, and as you seek the right furry family member.

I'm glad this thread was revived--don't know if it's just me that feels I've not been on LT as much lately and have lost touch a bit, though so many HE'ers are also FB friends I have some idea what people are up to . . .

Have been busy working and happily so. Haven't done much the last few days except read and watch TV/HuluPlus/Netflix, which has been luxurious. Actually read my book club book in two days, which is exceedingly speedy for me these days. About to pick up the latest (and apparently last) Jean M. Auel book. I shall be highly disappointed if the amazing Ayla doesn't get around to inventing the wheel in this one!

I am fine, husband fine, knitting good, Giants out of the post season (poop).

Anyhoo, the reason I checked in is that I have been enjoying the new show Sleepy Hollow and I keep thinking about all of you because of the amazing HEG that is on it! (Hi suge!)

I've been Lurking lots, but not posting much. I've mostly been keeping myself busy with kids. I did just start teaching ballet on Saturday mornings.

Adara is 4.5 now. She's started taking ballet classes, and we're starting to get a little more serious about homeschooling.

Isaac is 2.5. he's starting to talk a lot, loves being read to, is starting to sing , and is super into pretend play.

Lily is almost 11 month. She's walking a bit, and uses a few words.

nov 4, 2013, 4:32 pm

Umm, well, . I don't remember if I've ever really introduced myself.. and I saw the topic come up on the group page and thought I'd best say something :).

I'm Theresa. I haven't done very much on Library Thing. I need to copy my books over from Goodreads, and do a much better job of keeping up in both places. I was without a computer for a while, and then my sweet Yorkie girl Heidi broke her back, and I've been concentrating on taking care of her and other things. Hopefully the news will be good when we go back to the vet soon :).

I have read Sorcerer's Stone twice, I believe, and Chamber, but I don't recall starting Prisoner. I prefer to read the books before seeing the movies.

Looking at the Group Zeitgeist, I read Twilight #1, but never saw the movies or read the other books. However, I would really LOVE to find Alice's necklace, that was sold at Hot Topic and other stores. My Mother usually takes the Queen Esther star point in the Order of the Eastern Star, and she's always looking for jewelry for it. I showed her the necklace when it first came out, thinking I get it for birthday or Christmas for her, but she kept insisting she didn't want/need it.

A few months ago I found out differently when she (gasp, horror, the world fell apart) actually went in with me to Hot Topic and looked for it. Turns out she liked the necklace, she just didn't want me to spend that much money!

Typical Mom. :D.

She told me the other day that she and Dad had found a nice set of Harry Potter books and would get them for me if I wanted. Of course I said yes. They haven't been by that store lately though.

I am hoping this is a fairly active group, and that I will do better keeping up than I have been.

Nice to meet all of you,

Theresa

Welcome, Theresa! Do note that as you dig into our threads, we generally presume that folks posting have read all the HP series, so we don't give spoiler alerts (major exception being the threads when the final book came out), and also reference events from throughout the series. So, feel free to jump in on any thread conversation of interest, but just be forewarned. :)

#108 --> A belated welcome! I hope your Yorkie is healing!

Hello, all. I miss you guys! I hope everyone's well and doing good. I'm finally doing much better, myself. My hemoglobin's up to a 10! This is from an 8 last March. Progress is slow, but I feel incredible even compared to six months ago.

I'm still working a lot, so it's why I'm not really around. I'm also working hard on my belts for karate. I should reach blue belt a week from today! It's exhausting but fun. It kind of makes me feel more alive after going through my health issues.

I sadly don't get in much reading time. This month, I finished my first book since perhaps June. "The Book Thief" needed a reread what with the recent movie release.

I have a few holiday work parties and so I'm not sure how free I'll be for the gift exchange this year. (I've taken the poll.) If I can't make it, I'll be there in spirit.

Hello everyone! I got back from visiting people in Las Vegas a couple days ago. Now I have to try to be productive the rest of my summer at home. Three months is too long if you ask me. I'm hoping to practice my driving though as I'm 19 and still have no license. I'll be starting my third year of college in late September; I wish it was sooner because I love it there. Sadly, I am still living in the on-campus apartments so I can only move in 3 days before classes start.

Hi, everyone! I just wanted to drop by to let everyone know that my family, my friends and I are fine. The protests here have dwindled but the problems remain. The government is still acting like everything is normal and that there are no real problems.

I had a small car crash at the beginning of July and the car is still at the mechanic. Nothing happened to me or the guy I crashed into, thank God. I started my last semester last week and next semester I should be doing my internship.

I have been reading all of your posts but never posted anything, sorry. I hope everyone is doing well!

Greetings! I used to be active on LibaryThing, and then had 4 children and fell off all internet communities. The youngest is now 3 and sometimes I have moments of free time again. It's good to be back and really good to see some familiar names I remember from 10+ years ago!

>206 foggidawn: Thank you! I continue to read HP. I read them all to my two oldest children (now 13 and 10) and just finished reading book 3 to my 7-year-old. We'll take a short break before starting book 4. Reading them aloud together has made them a new kind of fun all over again. :)
