Your Opinion is Needed!!

As before, I would like to know what YOU thought about how THIS ReadaThing went and how it was better or worse than previous ReadaThings.

Good. Bad. Indifferent. Everything.

What can be done to make it better?
What shouldn't be done anymore?

and, yes, I really want to know! Even if it is just "it was ok."

I'm not the only "decider" about how ReadaThings run.... I may organize it & make some small decisions, but I'm not the only reader... and definitely not the most prolific right now. It isn't about what I want in a ReadaThing, (Then there'd be only one reader: Me... not good) it is about what this group wants!! (more ideas = more readers)

And a HUGE thanks to skittles for organizing this ReadAThing. I wanted more time to read (only got about five hours in, drat it all), but very much enjoyed it.

I loved this! Knowing that I was a part of this was like having a reason for reading other than for just the enjoyment of it making it easier for me to justify reading rather than doing something else I thought needed doing. The photos were great and I'm on a mission to figure out how to get my pics up for next time.

I really liked the "no pressure" option. Too often I commit to read a particular book or theme, or to read in a particular time slot, and I feel so guilty if I fail to perform! I signed up for "no time" and still got in probably 20+ hours of reading (I didn't keep track).

I also liked that there were separate threads for things like quotes. Sometimes these readathing/thon threads get way out of hand with too many posts. I mainly want to know what folks are reading and how/why they like a book (or don't).

Maybe posting book covers would be an interesting option?

For me it was the first time that I've joined this group and I was really happy to be a part of this readathing. Each time when I was reading, it was nice to know that someone else on an other continent is reading for the same reason I was reading. This was a great feeling.

I was also happy that there was no book category requested. On the other hand I got a lot of book suggestion, when reading the LOG BOOk.

I couldn't posted a picture of my reading place because I'm not familiar with all the features available. Perhaps somebody can give me some good advices, how to put pictures in, just in case for the next time or also if I would like to put book covers into a message.

Thanks a lot skittels for your organisation. I only can guess how much time you put in the organisation of this event. It had to be a big amount. So a great big BRAVO and THANK :-)

I didn't sign up for a time-slot, or even a no-time-slot, I think. I only remembered when I noticed a post, so I jumped right in! I enjoyed the feeling of camaraderie with knowing others were spending their available time reading as well. I also didn't keep track of my time spent reading, although I know it was several hours. Next time I'll try to keep track of time/pages read. :) Otherwise, I enjoyed the weekend!

I didn't sign up either, as I knew I would be travelling for a good part of the time and I wasn't sure if I'd be reading. In the end, I did read quite a bit, but didn't feel like I was part of the group because I wasn't signed up even for a no-time slot. Next time I'll do that.

tardis, I'm sorry that you didn't feel part of the group, because I think you are! IMO, you read with us. Thank you!!

Basically the only times I had to read this past weekend were the times I signed up for. Only 3 hours but because I'd signed up I felt motivated to set that time aside (ie. get up earlier). It was a wonderful way to spend some quiet time with fellow readers. Thanks for organizing this for us, skittles!

I joined LibraryThing just about six months ago, and this was my first time participating in ReadaThing ... but not my last. I enjoyed knowing that at any point during the 100 hours, someone--somewhere--was reading, and I was happy to contribute a two-hour shift plus approximately four hours beyond my time slot, spread over three days (finished Prince Philip by Philip Eade and started The House at Riverton by Kate Gordon, both with much enjoyment). I will definitely sign up next time.

I learned a few things that will make the next ReadaThing easier and more fun for me: (1) more and shorter time slots will work better for me than fewer and longer ones; (2) I must keep better track of my time and number of pages read; (3) better planning next time will permit me to devote more time to reading.

Something I liked this time was the ease of adding my name to the timeline. I also liked the opportunity to log the titles of what books I would be reading, but not to have to commit myself to specific books too far in advance. It was interesting to see what others selected. I particularly enjoyed knowing that I wasn't the only one reading with furry companionship--how many of us reported, and even photographed, a dog or cat resting nearby!

I only joined LT a month ago and only knew about the ReadaThing when I saw the note on the homepage. I signed up for a "no time" slot because I wasnt sure when I would have time, but I ended up reading probably 10 hours this weekend. I had a great time and loved everyone's log posts. It turned reading from a solitary adventure into a team sport. I absoultely can't wait for February now!

I loved the ReadaThing. I felt really good when I was reading, knowing that someone else, somewhere, was reading with me for the event.
I am probably one of the ones who did too much posting and I will work on how to lessen that for the next one.
I learned that 3 hour time slots are too much of a commitment for me and that I need more time between reading time slots. I also learned that I need to get a lot of rest before the event begins and that I need to pay better attention to when it begins. The time zones got me. But I was very pleased with the amount of time that I read and the number of books I was able to get in.
I saw nothing to find fault with. I really liked the longer event and I loved the pictures. I don't know how to do them but intend to learn between now and February.
I thank you skittles for the event and all you and the others put into it. And too, I would just like to say how very much I enjoyed PaperbackPirate's input and comments. She often had me cracking up.

I had so much fun reading with everyone! Thank you skittles for all of your effort. I don't have any suggestions for changes in February.

I thought the whole thing was most excellently run; kudos to all of you! My only regret is that it was a busy weekend, so I did not get to read very much.

I only signed up for one time slot, but actually read more than that. Like many others, I like knowing that others are reading around the clock and around the world. I didn't post much, but like reading everyone else's posts. I'm looking forward to the next one. Thank-you skittles!

This was my fifth readathing and, as always, it was lots of fun! I didn't get to read as much as in previous readathings but I'm hoping February's readathing will be better...

I think it went stupendously well, I really enjoyed reading everyone's posts. I also enjoyed seeing the pictures of other members' reading places and the 100th page snippet thread.

Someone already suggested it and I would like to second that next time we have a thread to post the book covers of the editions we're reading.

I even have some ideas on how to make it easier & better & more of a group effort... but only if I get the idea of what the group thinks!

I like the cover pics idea & that we should continue the reading places pictures.

and there will be a "Theme Day" imbedded!!

I loved the ReadaThing. I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish. Having the separate threads for logging our books, quotes, and even the thread for posting about books you think you were going to read was nice.

I love the idea of posting the cover of the books. I will have to learn how to do that for the next RAT. It was great seeing all the different pictures of where people were reading.

It would be great to have a week long RAT.

I think everything went smoothly and was very successful.

The message I marked is from me, with the latest version of the code for adding a picture, adjusting its size and setting the spacing around it. The detailed information about how to get the stuff you need for the code (the picture URL) is way back at Message 7 in that thread. And there's a heck of a lot of useful stuff throughout - read it, star it for future use, and enjoy!

I like the RaT - the problem (which no one but me can do anything about, unfortunately) is that on the days we're doing a RaT I'm always incredibly busy! I really hope a week-long RaT will break the curse, or I may collapse of exhaustion.

I liked the pictures - but if we're doing a covers post for every book, especially for a week-long RaT, it should probably be in its own thread. And probably one post per person, with multiple covers added as books happen - I think that would be quicker to load than a many-post thread with one cover per post.

I didn't manage to find a good quote, but that was at least partly because I read rather few books - over 100 hours, I would normally manage to finish 5-10 books, but I only read in 4 (5?) and finished two. I'll keep an eye out for good quotes in the next RaT.

I have had the thread starred for awhile. I even made the first post my favorite so that I can always find it. Best thread for adding things to your posts.
