Hi I'm TJ. I'm from the frozen wasteland of Minnesota, USA.
I don't read too much due to the amount of classes and work time that I have. But I will be on here often. I started on this site just a few months ago and was on the last 75 book challenge. I'm not sure if I'll get to 75 this year but I'll try.

You can view my partial book reviews here on LT.

I post all of my FULL book reviews at:
My Tumbler Account
My Blogspot

Hi TJ! I'll be watching your thread for new titles in paranormal/fantasy and perhaps YA (of which I read a lot).

Your profile picture is lovely, by the way. Looking forward to seeing what you're reading!

drneutron: Thanks. I wasn't very active on your other one but I'm here again.

UnrulySun: Awesome! Thanks. I don't really have the time to read though, if you like we can chat about ones that I've already read. And thanks that pictures one of my senior pictures, unfortunately at the time my scanner wasn't working so I took a picture of a picture haha!

Hi! Glad you're with us again this year. I tend to read quite a bit of mystery and horror, so I'll try to stop by your thread now and then to see what you're reading.

Hello tymfos. Horror is the best. I don't know how much I will be able to read within the first half of the year, I will be quite busy. I will be able to read more once the summer comes. :)

I'll be watching your tumblr through my rss reader, your reviews are interesting!
I've seen quite a few people recommend the Penelopiad already, but I think I won't buy it and just see if I come across it sometime in the library or something.

Hi mene.
The tumblr account idea was started for me not too long ago and it's relatively new so I'm not too familiar with it. Mainly I just do book reviews on there :) Thanks for checking it out.
The Penelopiad is an alright book but it wasn't my style of book. It was more humorous then mythological if that makes sense. It's a decent read however, I'd recommend getting it at the library instead of buying it.

Just finished finished Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"! full review is up on my Tumblr (link is in thread description)

It's a great read I would recommend it to anyone. Bit slow at the beginning however.

I saw the Swedish movie of that book :)

Was it any good? I might get it on Netflix. I saw the American one in theaters and I thought it was pretty good. They switched a few things from the books ending however.

I thought it was a good movie, but of course I can't compare it to the American version or the book, as I haven't seen those. My friend thought the movie was quite similar to the book in characterizations, but he didn't want to tell a lot about it because I might still read the book (and at that time we didn't know there'd be an American version coming as well). Another friend gave me this link which describes differences between the Swedish and American version: http://www.movies.com/movie-news/sexualizing-lisbeth-salander/5948 (but she didn't like the remake, I have to say).

Hmm
Yeah in the English version of the book there are a few grammatical errors especially towards the end. It's kind of annoying if you're OCD Like me but I would recommend reading it. It was a good book and it's too bad Larsson died.

I have a friend that hasn't seen the American version or read the book yet she tried watching the Swedish version and hated it because you have to pay attention to the subtitles. I take it there's not an English Dub on it. I might not like that.

I really enjoyed the American movie though. They changed a few things at the ending (and its obvious they did it because of time, its already a long movie) yet I thought the changes were suitable at least.

I guess it depends on if you're viewing the movie for entertainment or comparing it to the novel.

I'm very used to subtitles because in the Netherlands all the English movies are subtitled as well, there's hardly any dubbing except for children's movies, so I read subtitles automatically.

I think I'll just read the Dutch translation then :) I don't like grammatical errors in books either.
When I get a chance to see the American version, I'll probably do that just to compare the two movies! I think it's interesting to see what they change in a remake.

You live in the Netherlands? Cool! I live in the USA. Nothing special there yet I've been to Europe (including Amsterdam) many times. It's quite beautiful you're lucky to live there. I never thought about how movies must be over there. I'm sure you guys get a lot of British films right? Here we don't get any and yet all of our major films usually have at least one British actor. It's amusing.

I think it's interesting too. Did you ever read / see the two versions of "The Shining" by Stephen King? Those are interesting to compare.

In the mainstream cinemas there are more American movies, but in the smaller ones we get movies from all over the world (with subtitles). But we can receive the BBC on normal television here (BBC 1 and 2, some people can receive other BBC channels too) and British tv series are quite popular as well.

I didn't see the two versions of The Shining, but I've seen the Japanese and American version of "The Grudge" (the Japanese one was scarier! But I enjoyed both ^^) and the French and American version of "Taxi" (French from 1998, American from 2004 movie). I liked the French one more, I thought it was funnier.
I've also seen the American remake (1988) of the 1969/1970s Swedish Pippi Longstocking movies/tv series. I really liked the Swedish version better, but I've seen both of these dubbed in Dutch (dubbed because it was for children).

Ah interesting. Here we only get BBC that's it unless you pay for more them.

I've never seen the Grudge, or Taxi. And I've never seen Pippi Longstocking...haha wow we might be quite different.

XD Yup Here I am.
Thanks. I figured out what happened. I apparently didn't copy all of the HTML Code and it was the last bit that creates that "Books to go" Thing. Haha. I was like "What the heck why is everyone else's proper and not mine?" Just my luck. Oh well.

Haa thanks. I really love reading but I never have the time to read and that sincerely is a loss. I'm reading four books at once now and I have to add two more on Friday (For classes, one of them being The Girl Who Played With Fire - Stieg Larsson) I'm a bit over whelmed! haha

Sorry I'm working on 0 hours of sleep at the moment and It's a bit sketchy of a message.
