Is there a LibraryThing group for requesting tags?

I found this group while searching for a group whose sole purpose would be requesting tags from LibraryThing members. Is there such a group (or more than one for different genres)?

Not sure what you mean by "requesting tags from LibraryThing members."
On any work page, three or four bars down is the complete list of tags which members have assigned to that particular work. The bigger and bolder the typeface, the more frequestly the tag has been used.

Ah! I see what you're asking. I've added one of those books to my wishlist and added a couple of tags. Since they don't show immediately, I expect they are the sort of data that gets correlated over night. Check again tomorrow. As more people add the titles, tags will happen.

BTW, it's not bad form to have your own books in your library here, so you could add tags yourself. Reviewing and rating your own titles is what gets odd looks.

What I was wondering is whether there's a group similar to the area on Women's Literary Cafe where there's an ever-expanding list of books that members want tagged. You refresh the page and go tag the new entries. There are also some threads on Goodreads groups where people add comments listing the book for which they'd like tags. I'm looking for any LibraryThing equivalent.

It's standard on Librarything for each user to tag books with the tags that tell them what they want to know about the book, how to locate the physical copy in their own library, genre, series, whatever. Of course, some members check out the tags others have used, especially when the book is a hard one to categorize.

Are you referring to the Tagging4Authors page on Women's Literary Cafe? That seems to be asking for something called Amazon tags which I assume have something to do with Amazon but I have no idea why people would want certain books tagged on Amazon.

Tags on LibraryThing are, I think, something totally different and you've just confused a lot of people.

OK, it looks like Amazon tags are like LibraryThing tags. The question I have is Why? Why do you care that people tag your books on Amazon? Is it so that they will be easier to find?

In any case, I don't believe that there is any such group for this purpose on LibraryThing.

#6: On the blog, a couple years back IIRC, Tim made a big deal about the difference between Amazon tags and LibraryThing tags, in that Amazon tags are drive-by and LibraryThing tags require you to have the book in your library. So, e.g., Ann Coulter's books on LT have fairly neutral tags and her books on Amazon have a bunch of nasty ones.

The more people agree with a particular Amazon tag, the better chance the book will turn up when someone uses that tag as a search term -- I think. There may be other, more subtle effects on Amazon rankings as well. I had thought this group concerned Amazon tags. Did I have that wrong?
