We started the week she came home from the hospital after birth and have never looked back. It must have worked, because she is almost 4 and LOVES to read, we read for hours:)

I too started early, and finally stopped reading to her at bedtime when she was around 15. My favorite part of the day for many years. And now her three little ones are book-devourers.

The day we brought each of them home - two books, one read by their mother, the other read by me. They're ALL voracious readers.

In the 1980s, there was no guidance on when to start reading to children, so I waited until my child was able to sit up (around 5 months old). That "child" just graduated from medical school a few days ago, yay!
