OK so have a bit of breathing space to mull over the events that have gone already - Saturday Carolyn Lewis kicked off the fest with a brilliant writers workshop, the WW2 bus was out and about in Bristol, Dr. Louise Younie talked about the medical benefits of writing there was an army of kids at the adventure corner in Waterstones, The writers & artists yearbook got people talking and James Long launched his new book the lives she left behind to round off the day.

Sunday - the Harbourside was taken over by Pirates in a great event with Peter Lord and Gideon Defoe and we had a special event in Redcliffe caves with the Bristol Writers Group. People chatted about historical fiction in St. Stephens and Ujima radio had a very entertaining show including amusing chat about the Jamaican Patois Bible

Monday - Another great event with Faber Crime writers in the caves and TM Alexander, Moira Young, Sarwat Chadda and illustrator Chris Young inspired budding authors with "How to write stories kids really want to read"

Tonight we have John Lanchester in a special free event at St. Stephens - "Capital & other pleasures" as well as "An evening of book design" at the Arnolfini

Wednesday was a busy day as we had a Self-publishing workshop with Silverwood publishing, an introduction to the more traditional publishing process with an event exploring the relationship between writer, editor and agent. We had Andrew Miller and Clare Clark in conversation in a church and two local authors Jari Moate and Mike Manson talked about their books and the writing process in the Thunderbolt pub. Yesterday we had a splendid writer's conference at Spike Island and a fantastic event with Stanley Donwood at PRSC...

Tonight we have Helen Dunmore reading from Greatcoat, an event to celebrate Jamaica 50 with Lillian Allen and a performance masterclass (audiobooks) by Nick Rawlinson with Cider!
