I’m looking for a US to Canada angel -- not for books but nothing illegal.

I recently bought some cups/inserts online from a US business based in Bolingbrook IL and they don't ship international. Had this been stated on the online form, I wouldn’t have completed the order.

Anyway, the total weight is approximately 12 pounds, and the size of the package is 24L x 14W x 10D. I checked the USPS website and estimated the postage to Canada to be around $50 (depending on whether you buy it online or at the post office) which I would reimburse. The only US addresses I know are through BookMooch so I thought before I cancel, I’d ask here if someone would receive this package at their US address and then forward it on to me. Anyone?

Company I use would charge $14.00 to recieve & keep that size parcel for 30 days.

Sorry to say I mooched these 10 books on June 17th with a request to see if we might do a face to face meet, sent 2 more emails & a reminder with no response although she appears to be on BM almost daily. Also she has spent some of the points from my mooch on mooching books for herself. I have sent her an email & explained why I was cancelling my mooch requests. My cancellation now has her -4.3 points. Sorry the mooch did not work out.

Um, no, BookMooch isn't a one-for-one basis, and very definitely not so for those of us using Angels. While I applaud your desire to "go beyond bookmooching", it might carry a bit more weight if you posted more appropriately (and if you understood how BookMooching and - especially BookMooch Angels - work) . If nothing else, it would increase your chances of reaching the people you want to reach.

#303 - Thanks Sophie! I have very mixed feelings about this. I'm a librarian myself, and I know that there is time and money involved for libraries in replacing books that have been lost or stolen by patrons. :/

I'm feeling inclined to mooch it anyway, but just wondering if I could possibly send it back to the library where it came from after receiving/reading, and if that's a good idea (I wouldn't mind paying the postage to send it back to the UK, assuming it's from a UK library).

Well, the person who sent it to me has just apologised profusely and explained that it was not her book originally, having been passed on by a friend - she has promised to check her books much more carefully in future! It is from a UK library, but it seems to have lived at several Staffordshire libraries and the due date was 2008 ... If you decide not to mooch it, I'll send it back to the main Stoke-on-Trent library and hope they rehome it ;-) Now I need to know how to change my feedback, given her explanation and prompt response ... any clues? Sorted it out!
